For years, ELI ALPS Laser Research Institute has been organizing five-day summer camps for physics-loving secondary school students in years 9 to 12. This year’s camp will run from 23 June to 27 June 2025, from 9 am to 5 pm every day. The programme will include a light-hearted but meaningful exploration of topics related to optics, photonics and lasers, with content tailored to the knowledge level of the targeted age group, and in a manner befitting any vacation. Those interested are welcome to participate in discussions, lectures, laboratory tours, group tasks, competitions and a recreational programme that is bound to be fun. The sessions will be held by ELI ALPS researchers.
As the culmination of the camp, students will have the opportunity to take a test. If they achieve a score of at least 80%, they will earn 25 admission points for the Physics, Physics Teacher, Physics-Engineering, Bioengineering, Environmental Engineering, and Chemical Engineering programmes at the University of Szeged. Students will be able to use these points even if they do not apply for admission this year.
Camp participation fee: HUF 25,000, which includes the cost of the camp, lunches, snacks and a camp T-shirt.
Non-Szeged residents can request dormitory accommodation, breakfast and dinner at cost price. Accommodation (breakfast and dinner included) is HUF 7,000 per person per night.
The number of places is limited, we can accept applications from 40 secondary school students, in order of registration.
A limited number of participants can apply for a Ministry of the Interior grant, which will cover the participation fee of the camp. The grant is available to those whose financial situation would not allow them to attend the camp.
