By car – from Budapest
Szeged is 165 km away from Budapest on highway M5. Before accessing to highway M5, you have to buy a highway sticker for your car. Stickers can be purchased at any Hungarian gas station or online as well: „motorway vignette”.

From the Airport
After arriving to Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport (so called Ferihegy) Terminal 2A, you can use 200E bus transport from the airport to the train station (Ferihegy Airport Station), where you can buy your train ticket to Szeged (note: this is a direct train line to Szeged, it is not necessary to travel into the centre of Budapest). From the airport you can take a 300 meters walk to the train station as well. At Ferihegy Airport Station choose Cegléd direction. InterCity train runs on Budapest-Cegléd-Kecskemét-Szeged line in every hour from 5:53am to 20:53pm. (From Ferihegy Airport Station to Szeged, in every hour from 06:13am to 20:13pm). By train
In case of arriving to Keleti Station, you should travel to Deák Ferenc tér using M2 (red) metro line. At Deák Ferenc tér change the line to M3 (blue metro line) and get off at Nyugati pályaudvar (Nyugati Station). Transport in Szeged
In Szeged, ELI ALPS building can be accessed by buses 71 and 72. In Újszeged, you can get on the bus at Napfényfürdő or Torontál Square (P + R), and in downtown Széchenyi Square, Centrum or Mars Square. You should get off the bus at Öthalmi Diáklakások, from which there is a 5-10 minute walk to the ELI building.
Timetables
The 72A bus stops close to ELI, but it only arrives at 7:19am and 8:19pm. It starts from ELI at 16:19, 17: 19, 18: 19 and 19: 19.
For our guests arriving at Szeged railway station, we recommend trams 1 and 2 from there. From the tram you have to change on Széchenyi Square and take the bus 71, 72, or 72A to reach the research institute.
The price of the pre-purchased ticket is 470 HUF, while the ticket purchased at the driver costs 650 HUF. Purchase of a line ticket is available at ticket store pavilions, grocery stores, national tobacconists and vending machines.
